Job Description and Requirements

Marketing and Promotions -- Summer of Cycling

- Research events and grass roots activities to promote awareness and drive registrations

- Create calendar of events and confirm attendance and details with event coordinators


* Dates, times, parking, demographics

- Attend and manage booth at local community or cycling events

- Coordinate with TOU staff on activities within booth to drive participation

- Assist with selection of give-a-way items and promotional materials

- Work with TOU Marketing Director on media buy (digital, print, social)

- Support social media platforms in conjunction with Saxton Horne

- Oversee the Street Team


* Manage the calendar for host community events, including intern schedule and assignments
* Assist with training of street team
* Manage inventory and allocation of product



Marketing and Promotions -- Ultimate Challenge

- Research events and grass roots activities to promote awareness and drive registrations

- Attend and manage booth at local community or cycling events

- Work with TOU Marketing Director on media buy (digital, print, social)

- Support social media platforms in conjunction with Saxton Horne

- Assist with recruitment of volunteers for the rest stop stations



Ultimate Challenge Event Production

- Assist with FAQs and respond to Ultimate Challenge emails

- Compile Ultimate Challenge Rider guide

- Assist with Ultimate Challenge newsletters

- Coordinate gear drop and staffing for post-ride events

- Assist with Rest Stop coordination


* Staffing
* Tents, tables, chairs, port-o-jon needs
* Nutrition offerings -- food and beverage selections, secure ice and water

- Coordinate Ultimate Challenge packet pick-up

- Follow-up with riders post event (final distribution of SWAG and other items)



Tour of Utah Promotions -- Kids Sprint to the Finish

- Oversee Kids Sprint to the Finish at each finish city

- Coordinate and work with presenting sponsor of Kids Sprint to the Finish



Tour of Utah Hospitality -- Finish Cities

- Help load-in/out and set-up/take down hospitality tents and areas, including but not limited to: filling beverage barrels, clean-up, clear tables, trash removal

- Assist with decoration, signage, furniture

- Will require some physical exertion -- emptying and carrying trash bags, moving supplies and equipment

- Assist with hospitality check-in

- Travel with TOU required (August 10-18)



Administrative

- Outreach to local bike shops, clubs, organizations

- City notifications -- post at local businesses, neighborhoods, etc.

- Assist LOCs to update and maintain resource pages

- Assemble VIP gift bags & volunteer product

- Administrative duties as needed or required



Events

- Assist with set-up, logistics and coordination which may include but not limited to:


* Decoration, signage, check-in

- Events include


* Salt Lake Marathon Bike Tour (April 13)
* Huntsman 140 (June 14)
* Cache Valley Gran Fondo (July 13)
* Tour de France Viewing Party (July TBD)
* Team Presentation and VIP Reception (August 10)



Street Team Promotional Efforts (as required)

- Attend local festivals, fairs and celebrations to promote the TOU and encourage host city volunteer recruitment (may include weekend and evening hours)


* Travel may be required

- Impact awareness/attendance by developing, supporting and executing grassroots marketing activities

- Executes marketing campaigns and plans events depending on expertise

- Works with appropriate TOU/LOC staff to support campaigns targeted towards key audiences

- Works with TOU staff to determine appropriate customized programs and strategies for various key audiences

- Provides coordination and project management to ensure event success

- Experience in customer service or other people-oriented fields desired

- Strong communications skills and out-going personality

- Assist with Sprint to the Finish kids bike races at finish venues as available




* Excellent organizational and project management skills
* Event planning and logistic experience beneficial

* Strong work ethic, and open to new ideas
* Highly coachable team player
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Number of Hours (weekend and holidays hours required)

- March -- April: 10-15 hours per week

- May - June: 15 - 20 hours per week

- July: 20 -- 25 hours per week

- August: 50 hours (event week)

- August: 10-15 hours per week (wrap up)
